“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble…” — Psalm 59:6

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support for the work in Nepal. Thank you for carrying us through these challenging times of COVID crisis. As even myself and my family suffered the virus, you have been upholding us. Thank you!
Praise God, we have some good news to share!
Parmesh Kumar is a member of one of the Self-Help Groups you support. Through the group, he is accessing the local government’s leprosy and disability services. This is a great blessing to him and his family. The extra help means his daily wage work in a factory* doesn’t have to stretch so far. Parmesh’s 15-month old son, Ayush, has also benefitted.
Parmesh also learned from his group about a free medical camp while they were all attending a government run disability prevention program. Through the group’s outreach and advocacy work, he was able to get Ayush checked. He was referred to Vayodhya Hospital in Kathmandu. There Ayush received surgery and services free of cost. He is now back home safe and sound with his parents.
Members of Parmesh’s Self-Help Group have a monthly savings plan and are building a fund to support the group member’s income generation activities. Thank you for your kind support of their progress!
Parmesh’s life is transforming despite the challenges of COVID-19 lockdowns. He is now a member of the local Ward Committee for People with Disabilities and has been recommended to receive seed money. He was able to buy a pig and has been rearing it during lockdown. He will also soon receive some emergency relief assistance from The Leprosy Mission Nepal. He is eligible to receive this as he received treatment for leprosy reaction at the Leprosy Mission’s Anandaban Hospital in Kathmandu. Praise God! Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
Please continue to pray for us all as plans and activities are changing due to COVID-19 lockdowns. Please pray for the management of the activities planned. Pray for the safety of the staff during travel and work, our group members and Nepal as a whole. God bless you!
*At time of writing, the factory was closed due to COVID-19 government lockdown rules, but Parmesh will return to work there after lockdown restrictions are lifted.
