Keep praying for Mobiles for Mobility!

Jubida is part of a leprosy community in India that relies on regular visits from a Leprosy Mission mobile clinic. “Every week I wait for the clinic to come,” Jubida told us.

Jubida is 60 years old and now lives in a shack by the roadside alone. Her husband died of leprosy complications two years ago. Her four daughters had all moved away. One was adopted by an American and she is now a nurse in the USA, the other three are married with two living in a village not so far away. She only sees them every month or so.

Jubida was only 20 when she first realised she had numbness in her hands. Once diagnosed, she took 15 years of Dapsone therapy (DDS). But the nerve damage meant she couldn’t feel enough to stop severe burns and she lost fingers.

She has visited a Leprosy Mission hospital and was taught self-care, but the mobile clinic provides weekly support applying fresh and sterile dressings when needed.
The clinic staff also provide emotional and social support. Jubida loves to sit and talk, with them.

“The staff and volunteers are very friendly people and I feel happy,” she told us.

Thanks to the support of people like you The Leprosy Mission are delivering care and support to communities affected by leprosy. What a blessing to those who cannot make it to the hospital!

Please pray Leprosy Mission staff in India will be equipped and able to reach people affected by leprosy in their communities to help achieve The Leprosy Mission’s Global Triple Zero goals:
• Zero Leprosy Transmission
• Zero Leprosy Disability
• Zero Leprosy Discrimination

The Leprosy Mission seeks to bring about transformation; breaking the chains of leprosy, empowering people to attain healing, dignity, and life in all its fullness.

We are targeting a Triple Zero Leprosy strategy — Zero Leprosy Transmission, Zero Leprosy Disability, and Zero Leprosy Discrimination. We are working hard with our international project partners, and international government organisations, to make leprosy transmission a thing of the past by 2035.
