Fabrication and Footwear
The fabrication and footwear workshop project in Chidambaram, India uses innovative technology such as scanning and 3D printing to provide prosthetics and orthotics. You can help provide the specialist 3D equipment, software, and training and remuneration for technicians and staff.
The Inclusive Empowerment project is entering a second phase. It has focused on innovative mobile therapy services and innovated with new technologies such as 3D printing and servicing prosthetic and orthotic requirements.
Government health services are limited, not only in identifying people with leprosy or who have developed accompanying disability but are also limited in the provision of services for prosthetics and orthotics. That limitation means people are consigned to poor circumstances and no assistance.
The centre has a workshop on site where a skilled technician fabricates artificial limbs, callipers, adaptive devices, and wheelchair modifications. He also designs and produces customised footwear for people with disabilities using gait scan technology.
You can support the workshop and help fund the technician, purchase equipment, supply the materials, support training, and produce devices, including shoes.
Your gift means that people with leprosy and/or disability will have their lives enhanced. Your care will enable them to participate more fully in their surrounding; perhaps even to increase their opportunities.
The project has successfully serviced, innovated, and advocated for better services for people living with leprosy over the past 5 years. The State government observed the efficacy of the mobile van and ordered another 39 with its own funding.
Your support will allow the workshop to continue its services.
