Give the blessing of shoes on Giving ShoesDay!

Give the blessing of shoes for #GivingShoesDay – December 3rd!

Giving Tuesday is a time to “give thanks and give back” for all the blessings and abundance God has provided over the past year.

This year, The Leprosy Mission is ramping up our participation and encouraging supporters nationally to make December 3rd 2019 – Giving ShoesDay!

On Tuesday 3rd December, gather your family, friends, colleagues and groups for a “shoe-a-thon” of giving!

pushpaWhen you provide protective shoes for someone affected by leprosy like Pushpa, you help prevent a lifetime of suffering.

Pushpa is profoundly deaf and cannot speak. Not only is this girl isolated because of her leprosy, she also couldn’t chat with the other young people in the ward at the Leprosy Mission Hospital in India.

Without protective shoes, Pushpa’s feet will become more damaged. Eventually, she won’t be able to walk, work or care for herself.

For those affected by leprosy that work in the fields, shoes help protect their feet from getting cuts and wounds that lead to debilitating ulcers.

Pushpa’s protective sandals are absolutely vital in helping protecting her feet from disabilities and potentially amputations.

How will your gift help? Every $15 you donate for a pair of shoes will:

  • Prevent new cuts, sores and infections on nerve-damaged feet
  • Help protect damaged feet and minimise limping with corrective insoles
  • Ease the pressure on ulcerated, nerve-damaged, fragile skin
  • Restore mobility so men, women and children disabled by leprosy can walk, work and take better care of themselves

Your gift can be a lifeline for someone in need of protective shoes.

Have ‘Fun with Feet’ on Giving ShoesDay!

You can help raise much needed funds and awareness about the importance of protective shoes for people affected by leprosy.

Wear odd or silly shoes on Giving ShoesDay (Tuesday December 3rd), take photos of your shoes and post them on social media!

Remember to add the #GivingShoesDay hashtag in your photos!

Please note: Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.  Due to added security measures, donations below $10 can no longer be processed online. To make a gift $9 or less, please call us on 1800 LEPROSY (1800 537 767).  You can also choose to give via direct deposit into our bank account: The Leprosy Mission Australia Overseas Relief Fund account: BSB: 013225 No:297114729. If donating via direct deposit, please include your name as the “Reference” and notify us at so we can provide you with your tax receipt.
