Artificial Limbs

Sadly, all too often medical care is sought too late and irreversible damage has been done.

This usually means amputation is necessary to save the patient’s life.

But there can be new life after amputation because artificial limbs are made especially to fit each person. Special soft micro cellular rubber footwear is also available and this is of utmost importance to prevent ulcers forming on the feet.

TLM worker Andrew looks on as a client tries out his new leg. Andrew, a prosthetist from Canada, works at Chanchaga workshop, Nigeria. He has made breakthroughs at the workshop, including executing its first lamination just a week after his arrival.
